At Anne's Place, we inspire people to enact tangible change in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness within our community.

We raise awareness about homelessness and provide long-term supportive housing to people in our community who without our assistance would be homeless.

  • Anne's Place residents move from living on the streets or in shelters to living on their own in comfortable and fully furnished single-occupancy apartments. These apartments, all located in Ward 3 in Northwest DC, are close to shopping and to public transportation. Our clients pay an average of 25% of their monthly income. Donations pay for the rest.

    To help clients live independently, Anne's Place contracts with Friendship Place to provide needed medical, psychological and social support services. Friendship Place is a leading provider of these services to DC’s population of unhoused people.

  • Anne's Place volunteer liaisons establish caring, one-to-one relationships with clients. They call and visit residents, help them with errands or personal needs, and deliver holiday meals. Most important, volunteers help residents build a sense of security, self-reliance and belonging in the community.

Welcome to Anne's Place

(Formerly known as Anne Frank House, Inc.)

Our mission is to transition formerly homeless people into comfortable, fully furnished single-occupancy apartments located in Northwest DC. These residences are conveniently situated near grocery shopping and public transportation. Residents contribute an average of 25% of their income toward rent and case management support, with Anne’s Place covering the remaining costs.

A Note on Renaming

Until 2024, Anne’s Place was known as Anne Frank House DC. Founded in 1987 by a dedicated group of volunteers inspired by Anne Frank's resilience, the Anne Frank House was initially a group home for women who were sheltered by others. However, over time the name caused confusion with the museum of the same name in Amsterdam, so our Board of Directors chose a new name, still related to Anne Frank, but discernibly unique.

On March 1, 2024, we transitioned to Anne’s Place, still fueled by Anne Frank’s unwavering spirit. Join us in our mission to provide long-term, supportive housing to Washington, DC’s most vulnerable individuals.
